Tangier International Zone,1955. The area is one of the last outposts of colonial decadence, and a culture shock in more ways than one for American debutante Lucy Savage (Juno Temple). Lucy desires an unconventional life free from the societal cage she's been kept in and, along with Tangier itself, finds herself on the cusp of achieving a painful yet necessary independence.
"Little Birds," the Sky Atlantic adaptation of Anaïs Nin's novel, is a pioneering work in its genre. Set in Morocco during the decolonization process, this free adaptation by Sophia Al-Maria intertwines themes of sex and politics. The producers commissioned Peter Anderson Studio to create a combination of style frames and short animations for the series, which required us to highlight its dreamlike and erotic elements.
