In the United Kingdom, the 19th century saw the emergence of the first seaside resorts. For a historical series chronicling this very story, the art direction involved repurposing footage from the show and treating the images to give them a textured, colorful, almost illustrative quality. Throughout the shots, technical drawings of the resort—conceived by one of the main characters—are superimposed over the footage, underscoring his near-obsessive goal.
