A loose adaptation of a 1979 erotic novel set in Morocco during decolonization, the production sought an opening sequence that, like its screenplay, would blend eroticism and politics while maintaining a dreamlike quality.
Then, I opted for an animation overlaying erotic images and clues about the scenario, altered with damaged film effects, vivid colors, and bright lights. The idea was to reference damaged images from the 1950s while creating an evanescent atmosphere.
